DALLAS, TX, March 8, 2022 – Eclipse Global Connectivity (Eclipse) and SKYTRAC Systems Ltd. (SKYTRAC) are teaming up to deliver Iridium Certus and legacy Iridium hardware and services to defense and civilian aircraft operators. The agreement, executed in late 2021, permits Eclipse to re-sell SKYTRAC hardware and airtime services. Eclipse Technics, the company’s Design and Production (DOA / POA) division, will certify the installation of the airborne connectivity solutions.
“Through this partnership, we are affirming our commitment to provide bespoke, cutting-edge connectivity solutions that will support aircraft operators in achieving their operational goals,” said Marc Pinault, CEO of Eclipse Global Connectivity. “We are proud to collaborate with SKYTRAC to help users leverage this new cost-effective solution.”
Iridium Certus is a new generation of global broadband satellite service, offering the fastest L-band speeds available with a wide range of service classes (from midband to broadband) to address various customer needs and budgets. Enabled by Iridium NEXT, a constellation of 66 Low Earth Orbit satellites, it ensures low-latency, reliable airborne connectivity even in severe weather conditions.
“Eclipse’s ability to design and certify airborne connectivity solution installations is an essential part of this great new collaboration, and we are enthusiastic about our partnership,” said Jan van der Heul, Vice President of SKYTRAC. “Thanks to our deep mutual understanding of the challenges defense and commercial aircraft operators face, we are strengthening our position in the Satellite Communications market.”
Iridium Certus uses cost-effective, non-intrusive, lightweight equipment optimized for aircraft and rotorcraft, manned or unmanned.
