Every two years, the Associated Aerial Firefighters, Global Fire Monitoring Center, and the UNISDR International Wildfire Preparedness Mechanism come together to support Tangent Link’s global Aerial Firefighting series.
Since 2008, Tangent Link has hosted conferences to bring the world’s attention to the challenges aerial firefighting pilots and crews face in their fight against wildfires. Hosting conferences in Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America, Tangent Link’s Aerial Firefighting Series provides aerial firefighting operators with a truly global platform.
With over 50 exhibitors and 400 attendees representing more than 20 countries, the event is an opportunity to directly engage with government wildfire experts, aerial operators, and technology providers from all over the world.
Join SKYTRAC at Aerial Firefighting North America 2022
With over 20 years of providing technical services to the aerial firefighting community, SKYTRAC is excited to attend Aerial Firefighting North America 2022 to help shape the tactics and technology of the aerial firefighting community.
SKYTRAC’s end-to-end software capabilities, enabled through our leading Satcom terminals, were developed in coordination with the United States Forestry Service (USFS). SKYTRAC’s solutions meet Additional Telemetry Unit (ATU) requirements for Automated Flight Following (AFF) to track and manage aerial firefighting fleets around the globe effectively.
Operators have traditionally relied on SKYTRAC to provide reliable satellite communication connectivity for surveying, aircraft tracking, voice communications, operational loads monitoring, fire attack data, tank drop data, and more. Utilizing the globally available and robust Iridium NEXT constellation, SKYTRAC has provided operators connectivity in remote regions in severe weather with high winds and extremely low visibility due to smoky conditions.
The Future of Aerial Firefighting
With the launch of Iridium Certus, SKYTRAC has developed new satellite communication terminals and capabilities that drastically change the future of aerial firefighting. Operators can now leverage powerful new tools with high-resolution and multi-spectral imaging and live video transmission.
SDL-350
SKYTRAC is introducing an all-new broadband Iridium Certus Satcom system, the SDL-350. This terminal is set to be the first-to-market Iridium Certus terminal for the aviation market and is capable of speeds of up to 704 Kbps.
The SDL-350 offers reliable, pole-to-pole connectivity. The 2MCU Satcom system operates with small low-gain antennas that provide less drag on aircraft, delivering fuel and cost efficiencies on both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
The SDL’s global SATCOM connectivity enables birddogs to surveil remote regions and downlink data back to command to control centers. The SDL also enables advanced graphical weather, black box streaming, VoIP communications, and traditional capabilities like automated flight following, operational loads monitoring, fire and tank drop data, and more.
